Seed Give Away UPDATE #2 TUESDAY 1/11/11

Posted on January 8, 2011 at 1:58 PM

I have gone through my seed inventory and pulled out what I need to keep for the coming year (combined with the new seeds I ordered) and have the following seeds that are surplus to my needs:

  • Beet – Ruby Queen
  • Beans (Pole) – Blue Lake
  • Beans (Dry) – Pinto (half runner)
  • Beans (Dry) – Dark Red Kidney (bush)
  • Beans (Bush) – Royal Burgundy
  • Beans (Runner) - Sunset
  • Celery – Utah 52-70 R Improved
  • Corn – Bodacious (sweet corn)
  • Corn Salad – Vit
  • Cucumber – Alibi
  • Lettuce – Super Gourmet Blend
  • Peas – Dakota
  • Pumpkins – Small Sugar
  • Spinach – Tyee
  • Sugar Snap Peas – Cascadia
  • Swiss Chard – Bright Lights
  • Swiss Chard – Rhubarb
  • Zucchini – Gold Rush
  • Zucchini – Partenon (only a few seeds)

These are “packed for 2010” and/or saved from my garden in 2010.   I cannot guarantee their viability, but they have generally been stored in a dry and cool area and should be good.   I have a lot on hand of some seeds (beans for example) and only a very small amount of others, so I will provide them on a "first come first served basis" until I run out.   If you would like some seeds – please email me at modernvictorygarden@gmail.com and list what you would like and provide your mailing info.

UPDATE - Sunday 3:00 pm - Lots of response to the give away so far and many of the items are now gone.  There are still plenty of beans and peas though so if you are interested in those please drop me an email.

UPDATE #2 - Tuesday 1/11/11 - The last of the seeds were claimed as of this morning.   A large group of seeds were mailed on Monday.   I will be packaging up this last group on Tuesday evening and should have them in the mail on Wednesday.   So with that - the 2011 seed giveaway is concluded!

How great! If I try Savoy spinach, I may do a trial with Tyee. We love our spinach. Ooh and sugar pumpkins. Pumpkin pie! You're so great!

This is great! I'd like: Beets: Ruby Queen, Corn:Bodacious, Lettuce: Gourmet Blend,
Swiss Chard: Brite Lights, Beans: Blue Lake Pole and Celery: Utah.

I can send you: Rapini Rabb: Early Fall and Early Spring, Celery: Golden Self-Blanching, Celeric: Giant Prague, Brocolli: Gypsy and Imperial, Carrots: Zeus and Imperial, Cauliflower: violetta, Collards: Georgia and Bulldog, onion: Mt. Whitney and White Gem, PakChoi: Joi Choi, Bell Pepper: Double Up, Radish: White Globe and Crunchy Royal, Squash: Hybrid Test, Spaghetti and Turnip: Southern Green and White Lady. My seeds are 2010, some are field tests from commerical seed production, some are my own natural non-certified organic seed saving. Let me know what you'd like. I also have some squash seed I saved from my own organic winter squash (Austrailian Butter, Butternut, Sugar Dumpling and Delicata), but my grandkids used the seed to play a counting game and mixed them up...I'll send a suprise package of those...just remember: 3 to a hill! And if any of your readers would like a few of any of my seeds just have them send me an email. I have plenty.

Wow! Very generous. I'd love to try some of these. How about the beets, pole and bush beans, any salad (I'm always on the lookout for a new variety!), sugar snap peas and the gold zucchini and cucumber!

Happy gardening,

Tessa

Mike - I will definitely keep that in mind and not be shy about asking because you always highlight such interesting varieties and plants in your blog and garden. I did have a busy few days doing the seed mailings but I am very happy to share my surplus and just hope they grow well for others too.
