Soaking Up Sun

Posted on June 27, 2009 at 8:45 PM

Had errands and commitments to take care of this morning and early afternoon, but I did manage to get into the garden for several hours later on.   Not much that really needed to be done, so most of the time was spent sitting on the deck, reading a good book, and soaking up some warm sunshine.    Yes, it was bright, warm, and beautiful today.   Gorgeous in fact.

I thinned out one of the beds of carrots and ended up with a nice sized bunch for the effort.   I also harvested  2 "Gold Rush" and 2 "Sungreen"  zucchinis and a couple of good sized green onions.   All together they made a nice foundation for the evening meal and some fresh eating/snacking.

The onions and zucchini went into an Italian Vegetable Stir-Fry and accompanied grilled beef franks for dinner tonight.

I hope you had some sunshine today too.

I got my 15 minutes of D today, but that's about it, so I know how you mean. We had dinner with my family tonight and he picked up zuchini at the farmer's market, it was wonderful. We thought it wasn't time for them here yet, but you just proved us wrong. I guess he planted really late. Ooops.

Beautiful! I love a garden veggie stir fry. It seems like no matter what you put in it, it tastes good!

I just made zuchini morning glory muffins this morning - first of the zuchini and 4 more tomorrow. Yay! Your carrots look yummy. I wish I'd planted more of those and less raddichio. And who knew how many people a few bunches of chard could feed - wow. That should have been carrots too. I'm learning a lot by looking at your overviews as far as quantities and crops. Love this blog.

Thanks Sustainable Eats! I learned a while ago that you cannot have enough carrots - especially going into the winter months. Now is the optimum time to plant carrots for a fall/winter harvest - so if you can find room some where - go for it!
